The Fullerton Bay Hotel is without a doubt the hottest spot in Singapore where you can find the most stylish and sophisticated inhabitants. Part of The Fullerton Heritage, the latest addition to the bay is a design-orientation with amazingly meticulous details that provide guests with a fantastic overnight experience, one that starts from your arrival at the historical Clifford Pier, which has been transformed as the entrance to the hotel lobby.
Thousands of Singapore’s earlier settlers crossed this pier as they came to start new lives and now history comes to life in the grand entrance to the hotel’s impressive 17-metre wide lobby. The journey continues into long corridors, high ceilings with impressive chandeliers, furniture that reflects the styles of Peranakan and colonial, and contemporary art works by Marie-Madeleine Gautier. This is definitely a trip that sends guests directly to the glorious days from a bygone era. It is not surprising that Andre Fu is the mastermind behind this great achievement.
Hailed as ‘Design Master’ by Monocle Magazine and ‘Asian Design Sensation’ by Conde Nast Traveler USA, Andre Fu is the hottest and most sought-after Asian designer of his time. His creation highlights include the highly-acclaimed The Upper House Hotel in Hong Kong, the famous eclectic lobby of JIA Shanghai and the private residence of international actress Michelle Yeoh. At The Fullerton Bay Hotel, Andre Fu has created a modern colonial hotel that has a sense of refinement throughout the design and ambiance in a lush and sensual setting.
The 25m swimming pool glows at night with the skyscrapers as the background.
Singapore’s colonial heritage also appears in the hotel’s 100 guest rooms. Furnished in traditional rosewood and latticed screens, the rooms here are spacious with private balconies offering spectacular views of the bay or the city skyline. Luxury and great comfort are two main keywords that will impress any business traveller or savvy globetrotter who stays here. The rooms here are not only equipped with the finest Egyptian cotton quality linen but also with large bathrooms with LCD TVs inside, sleek Nespresso coffee machines and Gryphon Tea, wireless broadband Internet access, DVD players, private butlers and even laptop bed stands – again, showing the great attention to detail. To complete the experience, they also provide Molton Brown hotel therapies amenities for your total body rejuvenation.
“with The Fullerton Bay Hotel, Andre Fu has created a modern colonial hotel that has a sense of refinement throughout the design. ”
To some, staying in a Bay View Room with all its luxuries might be already satisfying enough. However if money is not an issue, then we highly recommend that you try out one of Fullerton Bay Hotel’s five themed suites, designed after the Chinese, Malay, Indian, Peranakan and Colonial cultures, to get the ultimate opulent living experience that the hotel can offer.
The hotel has three beautifully-designed restaurants, also created by Andre Fu. The Landing Point, located near the entrance is the first that you will encounter and it also serves as a lounge. Here is the place where you can find ladies of leisure conducting afternoon tea or maybe private business negotiations. For a heavier culinary experience, however, you can go to Clifford, which doubles as the hotel coffee shop. With a modern brasserie concept, Clifford is an ideal place to have a power lunch or even a dinner rendezvous. Incrediblly high windows look out over the waters, while the vintage furniture and walls of ivory French paneling will surely mesmerize your guests. Add a bottle of fine wine from the hotel’s 800-bottle library and you can happily say carpe diem.
Last but not least is the Lantern bar on the sky roof of the hotel, which has now become one of the trendiest spots in Singapore. Surrounded by lush tropical landscaping that is reminiscent of the Mediterranean, this sky roof is embellished with a six-metre diameter glowing bar designed in the shape of a lantern set around the hotel’s 25-metre pool. This is definitely the place where you can rub shoulders with Singapore’s fashionable and beautiful people. Arm yourself with a glass of Lantern’s signature cocktail the Imperial Berry Mojito and you are ready to mix and mingle.
We have seen many great establishments in the world from Europe to Australia, but The Fullerton Bay Hotel has succeeded not only in excelling the existing standard but to raise it to an even higher level. Without a doubt, The Fullerton Bay Hotel is one of the best so far.
