Villa Devatas is situated in northern Canggu, far away from the crowds and in another world of its own. The large, over one hectare site is serene and as the name implies, is a spiritual place that can invoke dreams of heaven on Earth. The five-bedroom villa is spread in a pavilion style over one side of a valley. The lush and natural tropical garden and lawned areas create a parklike ambience along the terraced valley side with the buildings hidden amongst foliage with the background sounds of the river always below. The space and opulence of this villa is breathtaking.
The buildings, gardens and furnishings were designed by Swiss architect, Jacques Gast. Classic Bali Style prevails with clean, modern lines and with the use of traditional materials—alang alang roofs, and timber and stone construction throughout. Each separate building has an enormous buffer space between, guaranteeing quiet and solitude and each are connected by quaint pathways through the vertiginous gardens.
The main living and dining hall are designed in romanesque proportions with a stone stairway leading down to the main swimming pool area below. Some resorts on this island have a less spacious swimming pool area – everything at Villa Devatas is large. The master bedroom is a separate cottage with downstairs living area, swimming pool and kitchen, and upstairs an enormous bedroom with majestic views along the river below.
Four more bedrooms are located right at the other end of the property, as far from the master bedroom as is possible, and again the bedrooms are well appointed with all the space and mod-cons required for a luxury holiday.
There is a separate, fully-staffed kitchen that adjoins the main dining room and supplies 24-hour room service. The spa pavilion overlooking the Ayang River below offers full massage and spa service to guests and the view and garden surroundings are sure to put even the most jaded spa go-er off to a peaceful sleep. It’s possible to rent all five bedrooms together or each room individually depending on the number of guests.
Not only is it a great holiday villa and experience, but this villa is also ideal for weddings or other large occasions, too.
Villa Devatas is breathtaking in its enormity, lushness and serenity. It wouldn’t be an ideal location for holidaymakers looking for shopping mall expeditions and the action of Kuta for example, but those looking for an amazing location and a natural, peaceful environment immersed in five star luxury, they couldn’t go wrong.
